Carrefour Romania posts 7.5% growth in sales in third quarter, to EUR 290 mln

French retailer Carrefour posted a growth of 7.5 percent in sales in Romania in the third quarter of this year, up to EUR 290 million, according to the company. In the first nine months of this year, Carrefour recorded an increase of 5.1 percent compared to the same period last year, to EUR 845 million, at current exchange rates.

At a group level, Carrefour posted sales of EUR 22.8 billion in the third quarter of 2011, up 0.3 percent at current exchange rates, and EUR 67.4 billion in the first nine months of this year, up 1.9 percent at current exchange rates. However, the French group modified the “2011 Current Operating Income guidance broadened from “around -15 percent” to a range of -15 percent to -20 percent”, according to the company. Carrefour currently runs a network of 23 hypermarkets and 38 supermarkets under the Carrefour Market logo. Carrefour entered Romania in 2001 with its hypermarket format.
