Canadian Magna to open car parts factory near Ford in Romania

Canadian company Magna, a producer of exterior and interior car parts, which has contracts with car maker Ford, will inaugurate its factory at Craiova, in Romania, at the end of October. An opening ceremony is scheduled for October 25 in Craiova. According to local media, the factory already employs 100 people. The Magna Exteriors & Interiors factory, is located on Henry Ford St., close to the Ford factory. Magna is a worldwide supplier for Ford and is one of the many suppliers that has created production facilities in Romania, following Ford, which runs a production unit in the country. Ford currently produces the B-Max model in Romania. Other suppliers that have followed Ford to Romania are Kirchhoff, Johnson Controls, Faurecia, Cooper Standard and Kautex. Magna has 296 manufacturing operations and 88 product development, engineering and sales centers in 26 countries. The company is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. It has 42,700 employees in Europe and ended the first half of 2012 with sales of 15.3 billion Canadian dollars (around EUR 12 billion). editor@romania-insider.com (photo source: Magna)
