Cristinel Bîgiu, the president of Buzau County Council, was detained for 24 hours by anticorruption prosecutors, after some 6 hours of questioning, being accused of taking RON 70,000 (some EUR 15,500) and RON 50,000 (some EUR 11,300) as bribes, for awarding a contract, reports local Mediafax. Florin Colgiu, Bîgiu’s godson, was also arrested for complicity to taking bribes, while several other people are being investigated in this case.
