Bucharest to become construction ground for the next year and a half as water and gas pipes replaced on large boulevards

Bucharest’s main boulevards and downtown streets will become a construction ground as the municipality will start replacing water and gas pipes in a couple of days. The large revamping program will start in the Second District, with Soseaua Pantelimon, where workers have already started to peel off the asphalt getting the ground ready to replace the pipe, according to Digi24 TV station. The whole program, which should also start for downtown Bucharest in two weeks, will last for a year and a half. The gas pipes and networks have not been revamped in 75 years in Bucharest. “It will cause some inconveniences, but that’s it, it needs to be done,” said Bucharest mayor Sorin Oprescu. The city hall will use EUR 250 mln in financing for the repair work. This extra project, on top of already existing ones, yet unfinished, will turn Bucharest into an amalgam of construction works, a huge construction ground. editor@romania-insider.com
