Bucharest Stock Exchange trading reaches EUR 2.15 bln in 2010

The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) recorded EUR 2.15 billion of trade on all its segments during 2010, up 29 percent on 2009. The volume of shares and shares rights trading reached EUR 1.48 billion, up 10.7 percent on the previous year. The bonds market doubled to EUR 620 million, while the futures segment also grew by 59 percent, to EUR 25.3 million. The BSE market capitalization reached EUR 23.8 billion last year, close to the peak of EUR 24 billion in 2007. The Rasdaq segment of the market was however down in capitalization, to EUR 2.5 billion, compared to EUR 2.9 billion in 2009 and to the peak EUR 6.9 billion in 2007. Most of the BVB indexes were on a positive track last year. BET grew by 12.3 percent, while BET-C, by 14.6 percent. BET-NG was up 29.5 percent and BET-XT, up 1.9 percent. BET-FI, which records the trading of the SIF (Investment funds) was however down 8 percent. The BET index records the evolution of shares of ten blue chip companies, among which Petrom, BRD, Banca Transilvania, Biofarm. BET-C, the composite index, records the evolution of 45 traded companies, while BET-NG, the evolution of 8 companies in the energy segment. BET-XT is a blue chip index and reflects the price evolution of the most liquid 25 shares traded on the BVB regulated market, including the SIFs. The Bucharest Stock Exchange is made of three markets: the main market- BSE, the Rasdaq market (the former Rasdaq stock exchange) and ATS. editor@romania-insider.com
