Bucharest metro’s Eroilor-Drumul Taberei section to be ready in second half of 2016

The Eroilor-Drumul Taberei section of the Bucharest metro Line 5 will be completed in the second half of 2016, according to Catalin Homor, Metrorex investment manager, quoted by local Digi24. The entire Line 5 should be finished in 2020, and funding is provided from European funds and from the state. Work on the Iancului-Pantelimon section is estimated to start in 2015, Homor said at the ZF Construction & Infrastructure Summit 2014. For the Eroilor-Iancului section, work will be delayed, because the line crosses the central area, which is a high-risk area due to the old buildings. Metrorex, the metro company operator in Bucharest, has scheduled investments of EUR 900 million by 2020, of which EUR 600 million will come from European funds.
