Bucharest metro stations named after athletes for Romanian Olympic centenary

Several metro stations in Bucharest were named after Romanian athletes, following a partnership between the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee COSR and Metrorex. The change marks the Romanian Olympic centenary. Besides adding athletes names to metro stations starting September 7, the partnership also includes billboards to be placed inside the stations, according to COSR. The billboards will also celebrate the Romanian Olympic centenary and then, for a period of five years, will advertise fund-raising campaigns to support the Romanian athletes’ performances.
