Bucharest looks for project manager for waste-to-energy plant

The Bucharest City Hall wants to select a project manager to watch over a factory for the thermal treatment and energy recovery of municipal waste in the city. The authorities will organize a public tender for the contract estimated at RON 3.8 million (EUR 850,000), VAT included, reports local Profit.ro. The City Hall wants to build a plant for thermal treatment and energy recovery of municipal waste that will produce both heat and electricity. The authorities haven’t yet decided where the plant would be located. Bucharest City Hall will try to get European funds for the project. The European Commission has asked the authorities several times to build this project. Last summer, the former Bucharest mayor Sorin Oprescu said that the authorities planned to build a waste incinerator that would generate 5% of Bucharest’s heat energy.
