Bill in Romania: Firms accused of corruption will have access to public contracts

The companies that are investigated for corruption but haven’t received a final court sentence will be allowed to take part in tenders launched by the state, according to a draft project issued by the Finance Ministry, reports local Economica.net. The bill amends the current public procurement law, which prohibits contracting authorities from accepting offers from companies investigated for corruption. The current law also excludes companies or firms investigated for creating an organized criminal group, offenses against the financial interests of the European Union, acts of terrorism, money laundering, trafficking and exploitation of vulnerable persons from public tenders. The new amendments allow companies investigated for all these crimes to take part in public tenders if they haven’t yet received final sentences. editor@romania-insider.com
