bauMax opens new store in Romania with EUR 15 mln, plans three more

The Do-it-Yourself retailer bauMax Romania has opened its second store in Bucharest, in the Chitila area, following an investment of EUR 15 million. This is bauMax' 14th store in Romania. “In the next 12 months we want to open three more stores”, said Nicola Szekely, bauMax general director for Romania and Bulgaria. According to him, bauMax will further develop in Romania in the next three to four years, with plans to open three to four stores each year. For 2011, Nicola Szekely expects a turnover increase of over 33 percent in Romania, up to EUR 200 million. In 2010, bauMax Romania recorded a turnover of EUR 150 million, up 24 percent compared to 2009. BauMax runs 151 stores in nine European countries.
