New banking virus targets Romanian banks’ customers

A new banking virus called Dyre has been targeting customers of several banks in many countries, including Romania. Once the virus is installed, it steals the customer’s login information for his e-banking services, according to the Romanian IT company Bitdefender. The local banks which have been targeted have a cumulated market share of 40%. Users of e-banking services are invited to download a malicious file archive, which comes from a “financial consultant.” The message tells clients to download the file to complete a financial transaction. The Dyre virus is similar to the famous banking virus called Zeus. The attack targets banks from the US, Great Britain, Germany, Australia or France. editor@romania-insider.com
