Austrian tech company Kapsch wants to invest EUR 10 mln in Romanian subsidiary

Austrian technology company Kapsch plans to invest up to EUR 10 million in its Romanian subsidiary in the next three years, according to its Romania country manager Dan Roman. The company plans to generate revenues of EUR 15 million in three years in Romania.

Kapsch hopes to land a contracts with the Romanian Railways, which is due to invest in its infrastructure in the following years, to achieve EU standards. Kapsch is one of the largest suppliers of GSM solutions for the railways companies. Another area where it hopes to do business in Romania is a potential bid on a new highways toll system. “During a crisis, what do Governments want? Money. And a solution to get funds is introducing new highway toll systems,” said Kari Kapsch (in picture, left), operations director and part of the family that controls the company, who attended the launch in Bucharest. Kapsch has previously won a contract with OMV Petrom, owned by Austrian OMV. The Kapsch Group, headquartered in Vienna, has about 4,000 employees worldwide. The company was set up in 1892 by Johann Kapsch.
