Romania's Audit Court: Local authorities, more dependent on state budget

The local authorities are becoming increasingly dependent on the state budget, according to a report of Romania’s Audit Court. Last year, less than half of the cities’ and counties’ revenues came from their own resources, or 44.9%. In 2012, the share of own revenues in the total budget of local governments reached 49.2% whereas in 2013 it totaled 48.7%. It is “insufficient to talk about a real autonomy of the local authorities,” reads the Audit Court report, cited by local Economica.net.
