Asus: Romania's smartphone market, up 25% in value

The Romanian smartphone market may reach 4 million units this year, up 20% in volume compared to 2015. The sales value may increase by 25%, according Asus Romania, reports local Economica.net. The company launched its new Zenfone 3 smartphone on the local market on October 5. Most of the smartphones in Romania, namely 70%, are sold by telecom operators. Most Romanians choose smartphones with a retail price of around EUR 200. They account for 70% of the sales, according to Asus. Half of the phones sold in Romania have a screen with a diagonal of over 5 inches. Zenfone 3 starts from a price of RON 1,499 (EUR 336) in Romania.
