Astaldi’s hopes sky high with EUR 4 bln revenues target, 10% from Romania

Italian construction company Astaldi, has announced forecast revenues of EUR 2.5 billion for 2012 and is set to reach a EUR 4 billion target by 2017, which will translate as 9 percent average annual growth, according to the company’s 2012-2017 business plan. A breakdown by countries of the forecast revenues for 2017 sees Romania upping its contribution from 6 percent, estimated value for 2012, to 10 percent. Another interesting indicator is the 2017 construction backlog, which is expected to double and reach EUR 13 billion globally. Some 8 percent of such funds would come from Romanian pockets, according to the Astaldi report. The Astaldi portfolio in Romania comprises large scale construction works, such as the Basarab Bypass, the National Arena in Bucharest (in picture) and the Cernavoda-Constanta motorway. Astaldi mainly deals with motorway construction work, but it also has a finger in the railway and subway building pies. Its main co-national competitors in Romania are builders Pizzaroti, Tirrena Scavi and Carena. The Astaldi forecast for the 2012 revenues is very similar to last year’s and it is based on the value of the payments made by the company’s main client, the Romanian National Company of Motorways and National Roads (CNADNR). Romanian economic news service Ziarul Financiar calculates that the aggregate value of Astaldi’s contracted work in Romania is EUR 440 million, but there is no confirmation of this figure from Astaldi.
