Analogue down, digital up for cable and internet company UPC Romania in Q3 financial results

UPC Romania reported a 4.2 percent increase in subscriptions in the first nine months of 2012 to reach 1.67 million by the end of September this year. Growth between July and September was 1.2 percent, supported by increases in digital cable, internet and telephone services.

The results were released with controlling company Liberty Global's Q3 financial report, published November 4. The company is seeing continued growth in all things digital, while analogue cable subscriptions have declined in 2012. UPC Romania lost over 18,000 analogue cable subscriptions in the third quarter, with the total number falling to 446,000 at the end of September 2012. Digital cable subscriptions rose during Q3 and on the end of 2011, reaching over 400,000 at the end of September. UPC Romania had nearly 300,000 satellite TV customers at the end of Q3 2012, another increase on the end of last year. Meanwhile, subscriptions for internet services reached above 316,000 from just over 280,000 at the end of 2011 and telephone service customers numbered more than 210,000, compared to less than 185,000 at the end of last year. UPC Romania is a brand of Liberty Global group, an international cable company with operations in 13 countries, including other Central and Eastern European states.
