Almost 400 Ford employees in Romania volunteer to leave

More than 370 employees at the Ford car factory in Craiova have signed up for the voluntary leave program, with other 310 places left to be completed by tomorrow, December 18, when the term given by Ford Romania expires, reports local Hotnews.ro. Those who have signed up can receive between 16 and 24 compensatory wages. If there aren't 680 voluntary layoffs by December 18, the company will start layoffs to reach a total of 680 people. If the company decides who will be laid off, the number of compensatory wages will decrease to 13-15, but in this case people will also benefit from unemployment benefits. Car maker Ford had decided to lay off 680 of its 3,200 employees at the Craiova plant in Romania and has launched a voluntary leave program. editor@romania-insider.com
