After Plus re-branding, discounter Lidl opens 11 new stores in Romania

Discounter Lild has opened its first 11 stores built from scratch in Romania, expanding its network in the country to 118 stores. The new units are in Bucharest, Campulung, Dragasani, Focsani, Giurgiu, Pitesti, Selimbar, Timisoara, Turda and Zalau. The retailer has re-branded the 107 stores it took over from Plus Discount last year and started to build new units across the country. With over 2,000 employees in Romania, Lidl is part of Lidl & Schwartz group, which also owns the Kaufland stores in Romania. Lidl had sales of EUR 346 million last year in Romania, through the former Plus Discount network, according to data from the Finance Ministry.
