Each taxman in Romania's Fiscal Administration Agency (ANAF) oversees around 300 tax payers, after the staff cut in 2011. The Agency currently has 27,000 employees, down on 29,400 in 2010 and on 31,200 in 2008, and it oversees 7.95 million tax payers.
Around 1.3 million of these are companies, 6.2 million are individuals and 460,000 are registered individuals. In 2010, ANAF had 7.7 million registered tax payers.
Of the 27,000 people who work for ANAF, almost 23,000 work of the fiscal administration itself, 3,000 for the Customs Administration and 1,000 for the Financial Police (Garda Financiara). editor@romania-insider.com
