National Roads Company starts tender for Bucharest’s belt

Romania’s National Company for Road Infrastructure (CNAIR) announced yesterday that it kicked off the tenders to modernize a segment of the Bucharest belt and rehabilitate a part of the national road DN6, namely the segment between Alexandria and Craiova.

The two contracts have a cumulated value of EUR 159 million for 59.5 kilometers, reports local Economica.net.

The section of the Bucharest belt that will be modernized has a length of 11.5 kilometers and goes from the national road that links Bucharest to Moldova (DN2) to the highway that links Bucharest to Constanta (A2). The value of the contract amounts to EUR 88.9 million.

The work will increase the number of lanes from two to four, will rehabilitate existing passages and bridges, will remove some crossroads and will build new passages.

The company also started the tender to rehabilitate a segment of the national road DN6, which connects Bucharest to the west of the country, namely the segment between Alexandria and Craiova. The contract has an estimated value of EUR 70.1 million.

On April 22, CNAIR started the public procurement for the design and execution of the Timisoara South belt. The National Roads Company (CNAIR) has planned investment expenditure of over RON 5 billion (EUR 1.1 billion) for this year.
