McDonald’s reaches EUR 150 mln sales in Romania

McDonald’s Romania, the biggest restaurant operator on the local market, increased its business by 15.7% in 2017, to EUR 150 million.

The net profit also went up by about a third, to EUR 17.2 million.

The business increase was supported by the expansion strategy, with four new units opened in 2017, and the growth in domestic consumption and purchasing power. Consumption went up by about 10% in Romania last year.

McDonald’s is the leader of the local restaurant market by sales. It operates 71 units in the country. The network is owned by Maltese group Premier Capital, which also owns the McDonald’s franchises in Greece, Malta and the Baltics. The group’s business went up by 14.5% in 2017, reaching EUR 263 million.
