Volume of construction works in Romania, down 3.3% in first five months

The volume of construction works in Romania decreased by 3.3 percent in first five months of this year, compared to same period in 2010, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS). Works on new construction also declined with 7.3 percent, while the maintenance and repairs segment dropped by 3.9 percent. The construction volume increased by 1.9 percent in May 2011, compared to May last year, according to INS. Construction works grew by 2.9 percent in May this year, compared with April.
