Travel agency: Some Romanians pay for guides during expensive holidays as they don’t know foreign languages

Several thousand Romanians can afford to pay for expensive holidays abroad, but don’t seem to know any foreign languages, so they have to pay extra for local guides. About 3,000 Romanian who afforded exotic holidays of over EUR 1,000 per person benefited from the services of a local guide, said Sorin Văduvoiu, general manager of the Perfect Tour travel agency, quoted by Mediafax. The local guides add an extra 10% to the cost of the holiday. Such a guide usually takes on groups of 15 to 20 people. Romanians who do not speak foreign languages and need local guides are usually 50 to 60, either run their own business, or have wealthy kids who send them on expensive holidays. IN some cases, they also have high retirement funds. Such tourists go for cultural circuits, 7 to 13 days, in Asia or South America, Văduvoiu added. Romanians in general speak at least a foreign language, most often English, French, Spanish, German or Italian. In fact, young Romanians are known for their language skills, which is a reason why many international companies chose to open call centers and global support center in Romania, where clients from all over the world can be serviced by foreign speaking staff. editor@romania-insider.com
