Tickets for several concerts of Romania’s George Enescu Festival sell out in seconds

The individual tickets for for this year’s edition of the George Enescu International Festival in Romania were put up for sale on Thursday morning, and, similar to previous editions, most of them were sold almost immediately. The festival thus confirms its status as the most popular cultural event in Romania, and one of the most important international events in the world of classical music. For example, the tickets for the recitals of classical music superstars such as pianist Lang Lang, tenor Jonas Kaufmann, and Anoushka Shankar, who will perform at the Enescu Festival for the first time in 2017, were sold out in seconds, the organizers announced. The performances of Leonidas Kavakos, Gautier Capuçon, and Maxim Vengerov were also sold out fast. The chamber concerts of the Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields, Arpegiata Ensemble, and Philharmonia London were also in high demand. In the Midnight Concerts series, the concerts that were sold out the fastest were the ones held by Jordi Savall, Misha Maisky, and Giuliano Carmignola. Meanwhile, the star concerts in the Great Orchestras of the World series were the ones held by della Scala Philharmonic, along with David Garrett, Royal Philharmonic London with soloist Martha Argerich, and Israel Philharmonic Orchestra with Khatia Buniatishvili. All the tickets for these performances were sold in less than 10 minutes. Individual tickets for the 2017 George Enescu Festival went on sales on Thursday, February 16. They could be purchased online from Eventim.ro as well as from Germanos, Orange, and Vodafone stores, Diverta, Humanitas, and Carturesti bookshops, Carrefour hypermarkets, OMV gas stations, and Eventim offices. The festival will take place in Bucharest and seven other cities between September 2 and September 24, with more than 3,000 Romanian and foreign artists in the program.
