Skywatchers in Romania to wait until 2015 to see last of four Blood Moons

Romanians will have to wait until September 2015 to watch the next total Moon eclipse, as the higly expected so-called Blood Moon eclipse will only be visible from North and South America and some regions of the Pacific Ocean. The eclipse will be visible in these regions on Tuesday, April 15, in the early morning, for about half an hour, according to the National Astrological Observatory in Bucharest. When the eclipse will take place, there will be day in Europe, Africa and Central Asia. The most recent visible lunar eclipse in Romania was in December 2011. Out of the three next similar total lunar eclipses, on October 8, 2014, April 4, 2015 and September 28, 2015, only the last will also be visible in Romania too. The Blood Moon will be brought by the first total lunar eclipse of 2014, kicking off a series of four such blood moons over the next year and a half. Total lunar eclipses are sometimes called Blood Moons because of their color, ranging from orange to blood red, as a result of the dispersed light from the Earth's sunrises sunsets falling on the face of the moon. editor@romania-insider.com (photo source: Astronomy.com)
