Festival turns Bucharest street into a small village for a day

Part of Bucharest’s Kiseleff street will be closed on Sunday, September 20, for a special event that wants to bring a small village to Romania’s capital. The event is called RuralFest and aims to restore the link between urban residents and their source of food, and encourage healthy choices about nutrition, environmental protection, and sustainable use of natural resources. RuralFest will bring some 200 exhibitors to Bucharest. Its program includes fairs, traditional products exhibition and market, handicraft exhibitions, NGOs’ presentations, a small animal farm, games and children workshops, music, and traditional dance shows. Restaurants will also offer traditional dishes from different regions, and the Ministry of Agriculture will organize debates and presentations in a 200 sqm tent. the European Commissioner for Regional Policies Corina Cretu and European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Phil Hogan will also attend this event. RuralFest is organised by the European Commission's Office in Romania in partnership with Romania's Agriculture Ministry and Bucharest City Hall. The event will end at 20:00 with a concert of Taraf de Haidouks. Kiseleff Street will be closed for traffic between Victoriei Square and Arh. Ion Mincu street for this event.
