Romania’s Turda salt mine to be part of a touristic circuit in Europe

The Turda salt mine is the first such place in Romania to be included in a touristic circuit of the most important salt mines in Europe. Several salt mines from the UNESCO patrimony are to be promoted this year, including the one in Romania. The Turda salt mine will be put on the map alongside well-known such places in Austria and Poland, reports local Digi24. Its managers hope to attract more tourists this way, as well as European development funds of up to EUR 5 million. The Turda salt mine has grown to become one of the most important tourist attractions in Romania. Almost 500,000 have tourists visited this place in 2014. The salt mine is open daily between 09:00 and 17:00 and the entry tickets' prices vary between RON 10 and RON 20 (EUR 2.2-4.4) . Its offer includes parking and special cages for the visitors’ pets, as well as a mini golf course, bowling, and pool. Romanian salt mine, among the few underground places on Google Street View.
