Romanian product 'Topoloveni Plum Jam' becomes EU protected product

The Topoloveni plum jam ("Magiunul de prune Topoloveni") has become one of the 1.000 products included in the European quality system, after it was included in the register of protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications, according to the European Commission. The Topoloveni plum jam is the first Romanian product registered in the EU system protecting geographical indications and designations of origin for agricultural products and foodstuffs. "Romania has local agricultural and food traditions with exceptional potential. The European recognition of the Topoloveni jam is a first step, an open path to promoting and protecting Romanian products," said EU Agriculture Commissioner Dacian Ciolos. Source: Mediafax
