Romanian pianist Alexandra Dăriescu among Women of the Future nominees in UK

Romanian pianist Alexandra Dăriescu (in picture) has been shortlisted for the Women of the Future Awards in UK. Dăriescu is among the five nominees for the arts and culture woman of the future. Now in their eighth year, the awards aim to recognize the inspirational stars of tomorrow, all under 35, across diverse sectors. The 27-year old Romanian has become the first female pianist from Romania to have performed on the Royal Albert Hall stage alongside the London Royal Philharmonic. She will be competing against Jessica Elliott, managing director, J’s Dance Factory and Dancing After School, Anna Higgs, head of Film4.0, Film4, Tamara Ralph, creative director, Ralph & Russo, and Charlotte Wakefield, musical theater artist. The awards ceremony will take plane on November 13 in London. Alexandra Dăriescu, born in Iasi, in Northern Romania, studied at the Pocklington school and at the Royal Northern Music College in UK. She graduated in 2008 with a gold medal, the top prize given by the college. Selected as one of Forbes Magazine’s ’30 under 30’ Alexandra Dariescu is an outstanding ambassador for classical music. This year Alexandra gave her debut at the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and became the first ever female pianist of her native country to perform in this prestigious venue. Named BBC Music Magazine ‘Rising Star’, Alexandra Dariescu made her debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York. She performs regularly in Great Britain with orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Hallé, BBC Symphony Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, among others. The young Romanian will also perform in Romania on September 27, at the Palace Hall in Bucharest, along with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Andrew Litton, as part of the ongoing George Enescu music festival.
