Romanian businessman Ion Tiriac will expand his rare car collection

Romanian businessman and former tennis player Ion Tiriac will expand his rare car collection this year. Starting February 9, the Tiriac Collection Gallery will undergo major structural changes in order to accommodate some 200 exhibits. The gallery will close during the technical works and will reopen in May. The collection opened in November 2013 and currently includes 70 cars of 30 brands, including Jaguar, Bentley, Jensen, Lancia, Pontiac, Mercedes-Benz, Rolls Royce, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Maserati, Aston Martin, Harley Davidson and Indian Scout. All cars belong to Romanian Ion Tiriac. The businessman’s collection is the only one in the world that features six Rolls Royce Phantom produced before 1972, as well as cars that previously belonged to Sir Elton John, Sammy Davis Jr. or Bernie Ecclestone. The gallery, located in Otopeni, close to Bucharest, will re-open in May. Ion Tiriac is one of Romania’s richest businessmen. In 2013, he was was elected into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
