Romania could build high speed train line for up to 300 km/hour

Romania plans to build a train track for high speed trains, that will go with up to 300 kilometers per hour. This line will be built along the Corridor IV rail track, which is now being revamped. The new line would connect Szeged – the frontier with Hungary, to Arad, Timisoara, Brasov, Bucharest and Constanta, according to the country's Transport Ministry.

The feasability study for this line is currently in works and the design and construction should start in 2016. A completely new rail track will be built between Arad, Bucharest and Constanta and on this line trains will run by 300 km per hour. It will be parallel to the Corridor IV, that will be used for freight trains and for local trains. The existing line is currently under revamping works and will be used for trains going at a speed up to 160 km per hour.
