Rare pieces of art on sale at Bucharest Martisor (Trinket) auction

Artmark will hold their third Martisor Auction today (February 22). Pieces of decorative art and antique jewelry will be auctioned at Hotel Pullman, in Bucharest, starting 19:30. The Martisor Auction offers a selection of ornaments and decorations made of precious materials from some of the most famous decorative art workshops in Europe. The 161 items going under the hammer are grouped into five sections, representing the most popular styles in decorative arts of the last two centuries as well as two sections dedicated for the first time to martisoare (amulets) and vintage jewelry. Among the rarest pieces offered in the Martisor auction is the silver and gold Fabergé cigarette case (in picture) worth between EUR 3,000 and EUR 6,000. Another valuable item is an Art Deco vanity case made in the the early twentieth century in a European workshop,s worth between EUR 1,500 and EUR 2,000.
