Paintings by famous Romanians on sale at Bucharest auction this May

Paintings by Romanian artists such as Stefan Luchian, Nicolae Grigorescu, Nicolae Tonitza, Theodor Pallady, and Theodor Aman will go on sale at the auction organized by Artmark in Bucharest on May 9. The most expensive painting of the auction is Crizanteme și dumitrițe by Stefan Luchian, estimated at EUR 100,000 – 160,000. Other artworks included in the auction are Visare by Nicolae Grigorescu (estimated at EUR 40,000 – 60,000), Copil din Fagaras by Nicolae Tonitza (EUR 30,000 – 40,000), Lectura by Theodor Pallady (EUR 25,000 – 35,000), La scaldat by Gheorghe Petrascu (EUR 25,000 – 35,000), and Natura statica cu struguri by Theodor Aman (EUR 15,000 – 25,000). The auction will take place at Ceasianu-Racovita Palace on May 9, starting 19:30. Two paintings by Romanian masters Nicolae Tonitza and Nicolae Grigorescu will also go on auction at Bonhams’ 19th Century European Paintings sale in New York, on May 3.
