Romanian NGO Ovidiu Rom's Leslie Hawke marries Boston lawyer

Leslie Hawke, known in Romania for her work with the Ovidiu Rom foundation, and to the world as the mother of Hollywood actor Ethan Hawke has married David Weiss, 61, a lawyer at Goulston & Storrs in Boston. Their recent marriage – on New Year's Eve – made it into the New York Times, which featured a story on the couple.

Leslie Hawke, who left the US 12 years ago to work with disadvantaged children in Romania, first met Weiss in the 60s, when he was a family friend of the then Hawke couple, but lost contact with him until last year, when they re-connected. Leslie Hawke is the co-founder of Ovidiu Rom non-governmental organization, which aims at geting every poor child in Romania into the education system between age 3 and 6.
