Oktoberfest starts in Romania’s Brasov mountain resort this week

The seventh edition of the Romanian Oktoberfest will take place in Brasov mountain resort between September 3 and September 13. The festival will welcome locals and tourists with lots of beer, traditional Bavarian food, contests, and music. The event will start on Thursday, September 3, 15:00, with a carriage parade. It will then continue at Arena Sportiva in Brasov, within a 3,800-sqm tent with a capacity of 5,000 seats. This year, the organizers also introduced the 1-liter draft beer, besides the usual 400-ml draft. Visitors can also try the XXL sausage, which has a length of 58 cm and will be sold in a bun of 50 cm, reports local Mediafax. Bavarian music bands will entertain the public from the stage, together with Romanian, Gypsy, Greek, and Korean folk groups. The program includes Schurly Herr, Rocky 5 Aalbachtal Express, Klaudia und die Burzenland Party Band, and DJ Edelweiss. The entry to the event is free. Last year’s Oktoberfest attracted more than 200,000 visitors and sold some 100,000 liters of beer.
