Romania welcomed 0.6 percent fewer foreign tourists in January this year, compared to the same month of 2010. Most of these tourists came from European countries. In total, 467,200 foreign tourists entered Romania in January, according to data from the National Statistics Institute in the country. Around half of these visitors came from European Union countries. Hungary was the main source, with 37.7 percent of the EU visitors, Bulgaria, 22.6 percent, Italy, 8.5 percent, Germany, 7.1 percent, Poland – 3.9 percent and Austria, 3.7 percent. editor@romania-insider.com
