Romania’s Night of Museums brings opera to the cemetery and gold expo at the National Bank

An opera concert in Bucharest’s Bellu Cemetery and a gold expo at Romania’s National Bank Museum are among the highlights of this year’s edition of the Night of Museums. Some of “Ion Dacian” Operetta Theater’s most famous popular artists, Irina Baiant, Florin Budnaru, Ernest Fazekas, Adrian Nour and Catalin Petrescu, will perform on Saturday evening (May 16), in a unique concert in the Bellu Cemetery in Bucharest. They will sing famous operetta pieces from popular shows such as The Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Mizerables, Notre Dame, and Countess Maritza. The show, called Dolce Vita, is part of this year’s edition of the Night of Museums. The concert starts at 21:00, according to the Bucharest City Hall, which organizes the event. Before the concert, visitors will be able to take guided tour of the Bellu Cemetery, which is one of Bucharest’s most famous open air museums and the resting place of many Romanian personalities. After the concert, spectators can stay for a screening of the famous American movie Meet Joe Black, starring Anthony Hopkins and Brad Pitt. The entry to the whole event is free. Last year, more than 20,000 people visited the Bellu Cemetery on the Night of Museums. The entry to the Bellu Cemetery is at 249 Calea Serban Voda Str. Bellu Cemetery in Romanian capital Bucharest, included in European Cemeteries Route Romania’s Central Bank Museum will join the Night of Museums for the first time this year with a mini expo called Gold from the Treasure. The museum will display gold bars from the treasury in a specially designed showcase. The exhibition can be visited on Saturday evening between 19:00 and 23:00 at the BNR headquarters located in Bucharest’s Old Town (at 8 Doamnei Street).
