Latest film of avant-garde director Alejandro Jodorowsky opens Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival 2017

Endless Poetry, the latest film of Chilean-French director Alejandro Jodorowsky, will open this year’s edition of the Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival (BIEFF), an event dedicated to experiment in cinema and visual arts. The festival takes place between March 28 and April 2 and the Muzeul Taranului and Elvire Popesco cinemas. Endless Poetry was screened in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, and is the second in a series of five the director plans to make. The first one is The Dance of Reality, screened at the BIEFF 2014. This year’s edition of the festival stands under the “You are another me” message, a salute of the ancient Maya civilization. With this, the organizers plan to put the spotlight on everyone’s ability to empathize and place themselves in other people’s shoes, all against the background of recent humanitarian and social crises. As such, many of the films screened in the festival tackle the personal stories behind the recent news related to this. Besides its international competition, the festival will screen films previously presented at the Berlinale Forum Expanded section of the Berlinale, at the Rotterdam International Film Festival or the Cinedans – Dance on Screen Amsterdam. The festival will close with a screening of the film Manifesto, where actress Cate Blanchett plays 13 different characters. The film, directed by German visual artist Julian Rosefeldt, was initially conceived as a video installation, and was screened in galleries and museums all over the world.
