IKEA plans vegetarian meatballs for its restaurants

Swedish furniture retailer IKEA plans to sell new 'green' versions of their popular meatballs, that will be completely meat free, the retailer announced. Without unveiling a date for the new product launch, the retailer, which sells an estimated 150 million meatballs made of beef and pork, wants to cut carbon emission and tackle climate change with the new eco-friendly version. In Romania, the only IKEA shop located within the Baneasa shopping center in the Northern part of capital Bucharest, sells over 4 million meatballs a year at its local restaurant. The famous meatballs are an important par of most trips to its store, with most customers ending up in its restaurant. It is yet uncertain when and in what countries IKEA will roll out the new veggie meatballs.
