Holiday Market fair generates EUR 600,000 in sales while Romanians still search for discounts

The Holiday Market 2011 fair, which took place in Bucharest last week-end, attracted 20,000 visitors and generated sales of EUR 600,000, according to its organizers. This second edition of the fair saw 20 percent more sold holidays, with most of the demand directed towards holidays abroad- 70 percent. Romanian tourists search for higher discounts when it comes to holidays abroad than for those on the domestic market. Considering the news about a possible slight increase in tariffs for destinations like Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, visitors chose the early booking offers of five to 30 percent which were advertised at the fair. Romanians are willing to spend between EUR 350 and EUR 650 on a holiday package (65 percent of them), while only 20 percent would be willing to spend up to EUR 1,000 on a holiday. Travelers have also shifted their usual summer holiday to include the months of April and May and expanded their holiday with September and October.
