National History Museum in Bucharest introduces guiding system for the visually impaired

The National Museum of History of Romania (MNIR) has introduced a guiding system for the visually impaired.

The system has tactile markings that can be read with the help of a special cane, which sends the user’s location to a mobile phone app. Depending on the location registered, the app can broadcast pre-recorded orientation and information messages.The system is meant to help guide users, especially in closed spaces. It was designed by Brother Intelleg Transilvania SRL and was donated to the museum.

MNIR is located on Calea Victoriei, inside the former palace of the Postal Services. Its permanent exhibition includes a plaster cast reproduction of Trajan's Column and the regalia of Romania, among others.
