Romania's foreign exchange reserves reached EUR 32.3 billion at the end of April, up EUR 350 million on the previous month, according to the Romanian Central Bank (BNR). This is a historical maximum and comes after the European Commission paid the second installment of the loan to Romania, some EUR 1 billion at the beginning of March and after the Romanian state placed EUR 1 billion of bonds on international markets. The country's gold reserve stood at 103.7 tonnes, but its value went up by 7.1 percent to EUR 2.7 billion on increasing international gold prices.
