Bucharest’s Calea Victoriei opens to pedestrians on Easter weekend

Calea Victoriei in Bucharest, an avenue linking Victoriei Square to Splaiul Independentei, close to Unirii Square, will be open to pedestrians starting with the Easter Saturday and until the second day of Easter, the capital’s city hall announced. An event called La pas pe Calea Victoriei (Walking on Calea Victoriei) takes place on Saturday and Sunday, between 10:00 and 20:00, and Monday between 10:00 and 18:00. As part of the event, the avenue becomes a pedestrian one on the segment between Victoriei Square up to the George Enescu Street. The men choir Armon and the academic choir Divina Armonia will deliver performances, as will various other street musicians. The theater performance Zidul (The Wall), a representation of living statues, is also part of the program. Bucharest mayor, Gabriela Firea, previously said that Calea Victoriei could become a pedestrian area at weekend if Bucharest residents would find it appropriate, News.ro reported. editor@romania-insider.com
