Arctic's sales reach EUR 189 mln, down on 2008

Local home appliances producer Arctic posted sales of EUR 189 million last year, when it sold 1.4 million units, an 8 percent drop on the previous year, the company has announced. In 2008, the company posted EUR 213 million in sales. Out of the total sold units in 2009, 1.1 million were refrigerators. Arctic managed to increase its export sales by 5 percent, while the domestic market saw a decline of 22 percent as reflected in the company's sales, according to Monica Iavorschi, general manager of Arctic (in pic). The company increased its market share in Romania from 31 to 35.3 percent last year, according to its data. Exports will continue to be focus for Arctic this year. Around 70 percent of the local production goes to export, which is one of the main areas of growth for the company. Arctic is part if European home appliances producer Arcelik, which posted a turnover of EUR 3.1 billion last year.
