Local IT&C companies account for 51% of the total transactions on the Romanian office market, according to a survey by real estate consultancy firm ESOP. The trend is likely to continue in the next five years.

Managers in this sector are more demanding than other tenants. IT&C companies have predominantly rented class A offices, said Alexandru Petrescu, ESOP Consulting managing partner.

Some 87% of the local IT companies that moved to new offices chose class A offices in the first six months of this year. The average amounted to 58% across all activity sectors in Romania.

Class A offices are buildings located in central locations, with good access to public transport and with high-end technical equipment. They are often buildings with a rentable area of over 10,000 sqm.

In the first six months of the year, tenants chose class A office buildings such as Green Court, Aviatorilor 8A, Metroffice, Timpuri Noi Square, Globalworth Tower in Bucharest, The Office in Cluj Napoca or Openville and Bega Business Park in Timisoara.
