Number of insolvent companies, up in Romania after three and a half years
The number of insolvent firms in Romania rose by almost 5% in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year.
This was the first increase in the last three and a half years.
Most of the insolvencies were from Bucharest, Iasi, Bihor, Constanta, Cluj and Timis. The total number of companies that filed for insolvency exceeded 4,670.
The number of insolvencies is again on an upward trend for the first time since 2014, after previous decreases from semester to semester and from year to year. By comparison, 4,468 companies filed for insolvency in the first six months of last year. The number was below the level recorded in the first half of 2015, of 5,736.
