The share of health contributions in Romania will reach 10% whereas the share of social contributions will amount to 25%, the Social-Democratic president Liviu Dragnea said on Monday, July 17, reports local Profit.ro.

Employees will pay them exclusively. However, the employer will be the one who will make the payments on behalf of the employee.

At present, the share of health insurance contributions is 5.5% for the individual and 5.2% for the employer. The share of social contributions currently amounts to 26.3% for normal work conditions.

Of the total, 10.5% represents the individual contribution and 15.8% is the share paid by the employers. This means that the amounts collected by the state will not change significantly, but the employees’ burden will be higher.
