Hanami: Bucharest park to host cherry blossom viewing event

12 April 2022

After a two-year break, the ritual of hanami – the viewing of cherry blossom – is marked again in Bucharest at an event held inside the Japanese Garden of King Michael (formerly Herăstrău) Park.

The event, scheduled for April 16, will also feature a tea ceremony session, and origami and writing workshops. At the same time, those interested in the traditional dress can learn more about kimonos and yukata.

The scholarship programs of the Government of Japan will also be presented at the event.

The group Kodama Taiko and the shakuhachi flute will provide the musical background.

If the weather is not favorable, the event will be canceled. The cancelation announcement will be shared on the Facebook page of the Embassy of Japan in Romania.

Entrance is free.
