Germany remains Romania’s most important economic partner

Germany remains Romania’s main economic partner with a total trade volume of EUR 26.1 billion, which represents over 20% of the country's foreign trade, according to the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania).

Imports from Germany amounted to EUR 13.8 billion last year (+10.5%) whereas exports reached EUR 12.3 billion (+14.6%). The most important product groups in the trade between Germany and Romania are machinery, electrical equipment, transport means and materials, metals.

About 7,500 German companies are active in Romania, with more than 250,000 employees on their payrolls. German companies are interested in the anti-corruption fight and maintaining the rule of law, said Dragos Anastasiu, AHK Romania president.
