Food additives producer Dr. Oetker Romania has taken over in March a local brand of ingredients for pastry and desserts, egg dyes and preservatives from Alex & Comp company in Galati county.

The company, which has 21 years of experience in the field, is controlled by Romanian investors Dan and Catalin Alexandrescu.

“The products sold under the Alex brand sell in Romania, as well as abroad. The company is equally controlled by Dan and Catalin Alexandrescu and in 2013 posted a turnover of some EUR 3.7 million on the desserts products range, up around 21% compared to 2012,” reads a Dr. Oetker statement, cited by local Mediafax.

Dr. Oetker entered the Romanian market in 1998. Four years later, it opened a production unit in Curtea de Arges, Romania, where it manufactures most of the products sold locally.

In 2007, Dr. Oetker also took over Inedit Food in Arges county, a company active on the soy products market.
